One evening.
Every evening after.

One borrowed minute became our favourite part of the day. Across cities, crowded calendars and very ordinary evenings, we kept making room for each other. Now we are making room for you. Join us in Udaipur for two days of music, long tables and a promise made just after the lights come on.

Devika and Armaan's invitation, 20–21 November 2027, Udaipur

The hour
we kept.

A light cue. The wrong Friday. A photograph sent between cities. Six small things that became our life.

01

October 2019, Jaipur

One minute before the lights

The exhibition lighting cue, 18:42 circled

DEVIKAI was testing the courtyard lights before an exhibition opened. Armaan asked for one minute before I switched them on. He wanted the last of the daylight. I gave him thirty seconds. He stayed until closing.

ARMAANThe photograph was fine. The conversation was better. My camera recorded 18:42. I sent her the picture the next morning, with a question about coffee.

02

February 2020, Jaipur

A table for two, eventually

A dinner reservation for the wrong Friday

DEVIKAOur first dinner became a walk because I had booked the table for the wrong Friday. He bought two paper cups of chai and said the view was better outside. I have kept the booking email.

ARMAANShe spent the whole walk pretending the change of plan was intentional. I spent it hoping the next Friday was still available.

03

2021 to 2023, Jaipur and Mumbai

The hour we kept

Two photographs, sent at the same hour

DEVIKAWhen work took him to Mumbai, 18:42 became a habit. A photograph of whatever was in front of us. Sometimes a sea. Usually a desk. A small way of saying: I am here.

ARMAANWe did not manage every day. We did keep coming back. My favourite photograph is of her kitchen light, with a caption asking whether I had eaten.

04

August 2024, Mumbai

The ordinary things

Their shared bookshelf's bookplate

DEVIKAThe real milestone was a shelf. Half his books moved to the left. Mine went on the right. By Sunday they were mixed together, and nobody remembered whose was whose.

ARMAANWe learned that she needs silence before coffee and I need directions that do not include “the nice old building”. We got better at both.

05

November 2025, Udaipur

No photographer this time

Their ring engraving design

DEVIKAWe were on a terrace in Udaipur when he put his camera away. That was the first clue. He asked at 18:42. I said yes before he finished, then asked him to finish anyway.

ARMAANThe ring was in my pocket all afternoon. I had a speech. I remember none of it. She remembers every word, which is both wonderful and inconvenient.

06

21 November 2027, the Amber Court

An evening, with everyone

An invitation to their wedding

DEVIKAWe are coming back to the water. This time, our families, our friends and all the people who made those years feel like home will be there.

ARMAANThe ceremony begins at six. At 18:42 we exchange our rings. Afterwards, there is dinner, dancing, and absolutely no need to leave early.
